Sidney McGillicky, MSW, RSW — EMDRIA Approved Trainer™ — delivering EMDR Basic Training in Regina, Saskatchewan
Why Choose Us
Sidney McGillicky holds the highest EMDRIA credential — EMDRIA Approved Trainer™ — ensuring your training meets the gold standard recognized internationally.
Intentionally small cohorts ensure you receive personalized attention, meaningful supervision, and a rich learning environment with direct trainer access.
Learn from a clinician with over 25 years of hands-on EMDR practice across trauma, PTSD, anxiety, addiction, grief, and complex presentations.
This training meets all EMDRIA requirements for Basic Training, qualifying you to pursue EMDRIA Certified Therapist™ status upon completion of required consultation hours.
Training is structured to accommodate the demands of working clinicians. Delivered across two focused three-day parts with a consultation period in between, the format allows participants to integrate learning into their practice between sessions without extended time away from work.
Participants receive a full training manual, case conceptualization tools, protocol guides, and resources to support ongoing clinical practice.
As a certified NMT (Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics) practitioner, Sidney brings a depth of neuroscience knowledge that is rare in EMDR Basic Training programs. This expertise allows him to bridge the science of trauma and brain development directly with EMDR theory and practice — giving you a richer, more integrated understanding of why EMDR works and how to apply it more effectively with complex clients.
Training Curriculum
Our training follows the EMDRIA-approved curriculum, combining didactic instruction with supervised practicum to ensure you develop both theoretical understanding and practical competency.
Foundational theory, the AIP model, EMDR history and research, and the 8 Phases of EMDR Therapy — with a focus on Phases 1–4: client history-taking, preparation, assessment, and desensitization. Includes case conceptualization and preparation techniques, followed by supervised practicum where participants work in triads to practice the 8 Phases under direct trainer supervision with structured feedback.
Before advancing to Part Two, participants complete ten hours of individual or group consultation with an EMDRIA Approved Consultant™. This consultation period supports the integration of Part One learning into clinical practice and ensures participants are prepared for advanced training.
Advanced application of the 8 Phases of EMDR Therapy — with a focus on Phases 5–8: installation, body scan, closure, and re-evaluation. Covers complex presentations, blocking beliefs, and cognitive interweaves, followed by advanced supervised practicum where participants complete full 8-Phase EMDR sessions with structured trainer feedback and group debriefing.

About Your Trainer
EMDRIA Approved Trainer™ · EMDRIA Approved Consultant™ · EMDRIA Certified Therapist™
Sidney McGillicky is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) based in Regina, Saskatchewan, with over 25 years of clinical experience specializing in trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, addiction, grief, and complex developmental trauma.
Prior to earning his EMDRIA Approved Trainer™ designation, Sidney served as an experienced EMDR Training Facilitator — supporting EMDR Basic Training programs and gaining deep insight into how clinicians learn and develop competency in the model. That hands-on facilitation experience informs every aspect of how he designs and delivers training today.
Sidney now holds the highest level of EMDRIA credentials — EMDRIA Approved Trainer™ — and is one of a select group of clinicians in Canada authorized to deliver EMDRIA-approved EMDR Basic Training. He is also an EMDRIA Approved Consultant™, providing post-training consultation to therapists working toward EMDRIA Certified Therapist™ status.
What sets Sidney apart as an EMDR Trainer is his certification in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) — a neuroscience-informed framework developed by Dr. Bruce Perry. As one of the few EMDR Trainers in Canada to hold this certification, Sidney weaves the neuroscience of trauma and brain development directly into his teaching. This means you won't just learn how to do EMDR — you'll understand why it works at a neurobiological level, giving you a richer clinical foundation and greater confidence with complex clients.
Sidney's training approach is grounded in clinical reality. He brings real case examples, practical tools, and a warm, supportive learning environment that helps clinicians build genuine competency — not just theoretical knowledge.
